The eVEnT 2024

Brussels, Belgium. Enaip NET will present the LIFE Climate Smart Chefs project and its transferability plan in the VET sector during “The EVENT 2024 – The European Agenda for the Future of VET: A Training Providers Statement!” conference organized in Brussels by EfVET, EVTA, EVBB. Over 400 attendees from 62 coutries will attend the event, making it an excellent platform for networking and new collaborations.

EMAS Spring Green Week 2025

Online. Marta Antonelli (Project Coordinator) and the Barilla Foundation team will present the LIFE Climate Smart Chefs project during the Spring Green Week 2024 organized by EMAS in the framework of the UN International Earth Day (22/04). The Nutritics team will integrate the presentation by introducing FoodPrint, the online tool developed to measure the environmental impact of menus and recipes.

JRE International Congress 2024

Paris, France. Graceanne LaCombe (Project Manager, ALMA) gave an update on the LIFE Climate Smart Chefs project, and presented the Vision 2030 report and the Award to around 500 associated chefs of JRE (Jeunes Restaurateurs Europe), coming from all across Europe. JRE is one of the partners of the project’s Network.

In addition, the replication of the award system among JRE chefs in the afterlife of the project has been discussed in a dedicated networking session.

High-Level Course: closing ‘educational aperitivo’

Parma (Italy). At the Davines Group Village, ALMA organized a special version of the usual ‘educational aperitivo’ scheduled during the two days of in-person course as the conclusion of the eighth and final edition of the High Level course for culinary professionals, bringing together all the players of the project together with the students, teachers and institutions to share the results achieved. In these months we’ve trained 164 chefs, coming from 27 European countries.

EU SIDE EVENT @ UNFCCC COP28

Chefs at the head of the table: how to contribute to the EU climate and nutrition transition

Dubai, UAE. The side event promoted by the European Union took place on 12 December in Dubai, to discuss the centrality of chefs in the process of changing our food system, through their recipes and menus, delicious, healthy for people and respectful of the environment.
During the conversation a distinguished lineup of speakers discussed the challenges and opportunities for a more sustainable EU food systems with chefs as change makers.

UNFCCC COP28

Dubai, UAE. An extended version of Nutritics software with the Foodprint tool module was selected to calculate and showcase the nutrition and environmental impact of food offerings at the United Nations Conference of Parties event in Dubai in 2023 (COP28). Over 100 food vendors were required to enter their recipe information leading up to the event. Nutritics, and the Foodprint module, was used to estimate nutrients and emissions on 4,000+ recipes. The nutrition, carbon, and water Foodprint badges were shown to 60,000+ guests, on 250,000 meals over 250+ digital menus across the two week conference. COP28 guests included policy makers, world leaders and leading researchers.

Dubai International Food Safety Conference 2023

Dubai, UAE. Nutritics presented LIFE Climate Smart Chefs, the Foodprint tool and the Vision 2030 report during the Dubai International Food Safety Congress 2023. The event was held from December 11 to 13, 2023, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The 2023 conference explored the critical theme of ‘The Impact of Climate Change on Food Safety,’ aiming to discuss pressing issues as well as foster innovative solutions within the food industry.

The conference was attended by a distinguished group of experts, academics, and research institutions, as well as prominent local, regional, and international organizations. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, knowledge, and innovations as well as engage in insightful discussions about the latest trends in the fields of food safety and food security.

FOOD2030 – Green and resilient food systems

Chiara Pavan, Michelin-starred cheffe at Venissa Restaurant (Venice, Italy) and member of the Advisory Board of LIFE Climate Smart Chefs, introduced the project and its success stories, as well as tips and trick of easy sustainable nutrition, and shared with FOOD2030 attendees one of her sustainable recipes.

HOST 2023

Milan, Italy. ALMA presented the LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS project during HOST 2023 fair in Milan at the APCI booth with a talk entitled ‘Climate Smart Chefs: catering at the center of change’. The presentation of the project by Graceanne LaCombe (Project Coordinator for ALMA), focusing on the launch of the Climate Smart Chefs Award, has been followed by a roundtable involving Andrea Sinigaglia (General Manager, ALMA) and other food experts dialoguing on the role of culinary professionals in changing the food sector.

16th European Public Health Conference 2023: “Our Food, Our Health, Our Earth: A Sustainable Future for Humanity”

Dublin, Ireland. Nutritics presented three scientific abstracts illustrating the insights for a sustainable food service collected by using the online tool Foodprint.

A total of 2,328 delegates from 82 countries attended the EPH Conference 2023 to discuss and debate the state of global and European health from the perspective of research, methods and practices.

Final plenary roundtable of the LIFE Climate Smart Chefs Roadmap to Vision 2030

The event completes a partecipative process began on 12th October 2022 to develop the Vision 2030, a strategic policy paper based on chefs’ and the food service sector’s inputs to transform policy in EU so that it delivers a more sustainable food system. The paper contains a series of recommendations addressed to decision makers to support the role of chefs as active agents of change for a more sustainable food system in Europe.

Visit by the Finnish Ministry of the Environment at Jamk

Jyväskylä, Finland. Karoliina Väisänen and Francesca Allievi (Jamk University of Applied Sciences) presented the LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS project to representatives from the Finnish Ministry of the Environment. After the presentation, the project has been discussed during a dedicated Q&A session. The project received positive feedback, with invitation to present the it during the Finnish national LIFE funding info session.

Laura Kirwan (Sustainability lead, Nutritics) presented the LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS project during the event ‘Sustainability – Leading the Way in Hospitality and Foodservice’ organized by Arena. The event aimed at exploring how businesses and individuals are making a difference to environmental, social and governance in foodservice and hospitality and its supply chain. It also looked at how the industry is implementing change and leading the way in sustainable ways of operating to build a better world.

35th Annual AEHT Conference

Senigallia, Ancona (IT). AEHT Annual Conference of European Hotel and Turism Schools is an event that for 34 years has gathered students, managers and teachers from all over Europe. Using a digital quiz format called Cooking Quiz, the LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS project has been presented to a young audience composed by hospitality students. Question by question, and with the support of the official project presentation and images, the main topics of LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS have been introduced and discussed with students.
